I Met You Once

I Met You Once is a new culture of social networking designed with the best intentions to unite people who, for varying reasons, met only briefly without the opportunity to develop that brief meeting into a friendship. I Met You Once provides a means for such people who may mutually wish to develop or explore the friendship potentials of that brief meeting. In other words, I Met You Once is giving destiny a helping hand.

In order to achieve our goal of giving destiny a helping hand we need to maintain a safe, courteous and harmonious environment. To this effect, we have created the following terms of service for our members:

Eligibility:

To use I Met You Once you must be 18 years of age or over. Anyone who uses or registers with this site who is under the age of eligibility is in violation of these terms of service. By using this site you represent and warrant that you are aged 18 or above.

 

Registration:

When you register to use this site you agree to provide true and accurate information about yourself.

(i) username

You will be asked to choose a username. You must ensure that your chosen username is free from profanities, expletives or any other text which is offensive and likely to upset the harmony of I Met You Once. Accounts created with willflully inacurate or offensive details may be terminated without notice. You may not register a username that violates or infringes anyone's intellectual property or proprietary rights. We may also refuse you the use of certain username that could confuse or mislead other members (e.g., the username "moderator").

If you choose a username which is the same as - or similar to - your real name, you are asserting that you are aware your username/real name will be displayed publicly on your profile or on any ads you may create. You agree that you will take full and sole responsibility for any consequences of your choosing a username which is the same as - or similar to - your real name.

(ii) name and date of birth

At registration, you will be required to submit your full name and your date of birth. You must supply your real name and correct date of birth. Misrepresentation of this data will result in the termination of your account. To see how we protect your person data, please view our privacy policy.

(iii) Password

You are required to choose a password to complete your registration and to access the site. You are fully responsible for your password and must not disclose it to a third party. Your password is fully encrypted and never visible to staff of I Met You Once.

 

Avatars and Other Images:

Once you have created an I Met You Once account you may have the option of uploading an avatar image or a gallery of images. By using this site you assert that you will not upload any images that are pornographic, violent, harmful or upsetting in any way. The uploading of such violating images may result in the immediate cancellation of your account without notice.

In addition, you may not upload any images that violates or infringes intellectual property or proprietary rights.

 

Written Profile Content:

  Your I Met You Once account enables you to add textual information to your profile. By registering with I Met You Once you are agreeing not to write text that is hateful, bullying, obscene, offsensive, abusive, lewd, harrassing, profane, violent, harmful, intimidating, politically incendiary or divisive, threatening or in any way objectionable. The only possible exception to the profanity rule is where film or television show titles (for example) contain expletives and you are listing these titles among your favourite film or TV shows. Note that the excessive use of exceptional profanities (e.g., when listing film titles) may be construed as a willful attempt to contravene the terms of I Met You Once. If we suspect any user of using excessive exceptional profanities, we may remove the offensive text or terminate your account.

Furthermore, you will not enter any content into the site which violates or infringes intellectual property or proprietary rights. Your accountwill be termimated without notice if any such violations occur.

Also forbidden is the use of any of your profile space to commercially advertise your own or a third party's products or services. Any attempts to spam I Met You Once with unauthorised commercial advertisements may be suspended without warning. Repeated unauthorised commercial advertisers will have the account terminated. Kindly note that unauthorised commercial advertising is unfair to authorised businesses who have paid to use I Met You Once's commercial advertising services.

 

Creating a Member Advertisement:

(i) Purpose of "Member Advertisements"

I Met You Once is designed to help you find - or be found by - someone you barely know or someone you met once or twice but never had the chance to develop the passing encounter into a longer-lasting friendship. As a member of I Met You Once you have the option to create "Member Advertisements". The purpose of Member Advertisements is to advertise that you are looking for another person or wish to be found by them. These advertisements are strictly non-commercial. Commercial/corporate advertisers need to consult us here.

(ii) Definitions of "Member Advertisements"

Member Advertisements are adverts in which you describe another person or your experience of meeting with them. Member Advertisements constitute meaningful attempts to find - or be found by - another person. They are strictly non-commercial and should not include any information which does not constitute a meaningful attempt to find - or be found by - another person.

(iii) Prohibitions Using "Member Advertisements" To Describe Other Persons

You may use your "Member Advertisement" to describe the person you are looking for plus any other details about the meeting. Providing a detailed description of the person you are looking for increases their chances of finding your advertisement. While a detailed description of the other person is desirable, there are certain details about other people that we do not allow you to publish:

a) You are strictly prohibited from publishing any other person's Personally Identifiable Information. This includes credit/debit card details and contact information. Contact information includes (but is not limited to): residential address, work address, email address, SKYPE address, messenger address, telephone number, mobile/cellphone number, fax number etc. Anyone found publishing another person's contact information will be violating our anti-spam policies and will have their I Met You Once account terminated without notice.

b) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" (or any other part of the site) for any unlawful or criminal purposes.

c) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" (or any other part of the site) to violate the proprietary rights or intellectual property of others.

d) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" (or any other part of the site) to deceive or 'snare' other persons. You are strictly prohibited from misrepresenting your identity.

e) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" (or any other part of the site) to solicit contact from anyone under the age of 18.

f) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" to describe a person - or meeting with a person - who is not yet 18 years of age.

g) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" (or any other part of the site) for any commercial purposes or financial gain. It is strictly forbidden to use any of your "Member Advertisement" space to commercially advertise your own or a third party's products or services. Any attempts to spam I Met You Once with unauthorised commercial advertisements shall be banned without warning. Unauthorised commercial advertising is unfair to authorised businesses who have paid to use I Met You Once's commercial advertising services.

h) You are strictly prohibited from using your "Member Advertisement" to abuse, defame, slander, libel, harm, violate, intimidate, bully, threaten, or behave in any objectionable way, towards another person.

Any prohibited activity will be punished with the closure of your account without warning.

(iv) Photography or Other Images on your "Member Advertisement"

When you create an advertisement, you have the option to upload images as part of your advertisement. The images you upload may be anything that will help the person you are looking for to recognise you. You must ensure that the images you upload are not pornographic, violent, harmful or offensive to any other persons. You must also ensure that the images you upload do not violate anyone's intellectual property or proprietary rights.

Any prohibited activity will be punished with the closure of your account.

(v) Responsibility for Content of Member Advertisement

By creating a "Member Advertisement", you are unequivocally asserting that you are entirely responsible for your description of the person you are looking for.

You agree to take responsibility for any offence caused to any other persons in your "Member Advertisement". You agree that you and you alone are responsible for the authorship of the content of your "Member Advertisement". You agree to take full, exclusive personal responsibility for any consequences to yourself or to other persons for your creation and content of your "Member Advertisement". You agree that, should any offence be caused to another other persons resulting from your Member Advertisement, that you delete the offensive advertisement immediately upon request. You agree that you are fully, exclusively responsible for any damages caused, or repair required, from your "Member Advertisement".

Further to the indemnifications and warranties specified (below), you expressly indemnify and hold harmless I Met You Once for any consequences resulting from your use of Member Advertisements.

 

Your Consent to the Public Display of your Profile, Avatar and Ads:

For the site to acheive its goals of uniting people who briefly only met once or twice, you accept and agree that your profile, avatar and ads shall be publicly viewable.

 

General User Conduct:

In addition to, or in repetition of, any of the terms of service outlined in items 1-5, you agree:

• That your use of the site is personal and strictly non-commercial.
• That you will not publish your email address on the site.
• That you do not upload or disseminate any commercial content, including but not limited to: commercial advertisements, promotional materials, spam, chain-mail, pyramid schemes etc.
• That you will not enter any content into any part of the site that promotes, encourages, enables, facilitates or instructs any criminal activity.
• That you will not enter any content into any part of the site site that would violate any laws (whether these be local laws, state laws, national laws, international laws).
• That you will not use this site to infringe upon or violate the rights of any other persons.
• That you are solely responsible for ensuring that any content you enter to the site is not libelous, defamatory or in any way unlawful.
• That you will not use the site to harvest or collect contact information from the site in order to send unsolicited mail, commercial mail or spam to any users of I Met You Once, including the site's members or staff.
• That you will not execute malicious scripts upon or within the site which harvest personal information or affect the performance & workings of the site.
• That you will not execute, upload or deploy any malicious scripts (such as viruses, malware, trojans, worms, adware, robots, spiders) or files that will harm, impair or alter the performance, functioning or stability of the site.
• That you will make no attempt to hack, penetrate or compromise the security of the site.
• That you will not enter any content into the site which is illegal, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, hateful, bullying, obscene, offensive, abusive, lewd, harassing, profane, violent, harmful, intimidating, politically incendiary or divisive, threatening or in any way objectionable.
• That you will not publish the private details of any other persons including, but not limited to, their personal contact information, bank account details, social security number, National Insurance number, passwords etc.
• That any content you upload does not infringe or violate the copyright of others.
• That any textual content you upload is of your own authorship or property.
• That any graphical content (i.e., images and photography) is your of your own authorship or property.
• That you will not misrepresent your identity.
• That you will not create a false identity.
• That you will not imitate or misrepresent yourself as an I Met You Once member of staff.
• That you will not set out to deceive any other members of this site.
• That you will not register more than one account; that you will not register an account in someone else's name.
• That you will not permit or encourage anyone under 18 years of age to use this site.
• That you will not use I Met You Once to interact or communicate with anyone under 18 years of age.
• That you will not attempt to use or hijack another member's account.
• That you will not write, upload, transmit, share or store any content that is contrary to our ethos of a safe, courteous, harmonious environment.
• That you will not write, upload, transmit, share or store any content that exposes members or I Met You Once to any liability or harm.

 

User Disputes:

We encourage users to remedy any disputes that arise between themselves. However, I Met You Once may monitor and intervene in the dispute. Where we believe General User Conduct has been violated, we will take the appropriate action against the violating member(s).

 

Termination:

 We reserve the right to cancel or terminate your account at any time for any or no reason, with or without notification.

Likewise, you have the right to terminate your account at any time. Once your membership terminates, our propriety rights, disclaimers, warranties, limitations of liabilities and terms of service shall survive the termination of your account.

Proprietary Rights:

I Met You Once does not claim ownership of any materials that you upload to or author upon the site. After uploading, submitting or authoring materials on this site, you continue to own them. By uploading, submitting or authoring materials on this site you agree to give I Met You Once limited licence to use, modify, publicly display or perform, reproduce or distribute those materials.

The licence you grant I Met You Once to use your materials is fully-paid and royalty-free (that is, I Met You Once is not required to pay you for any use of your materials).

The licence is sub-licensable, meaning that we may pass on the materials for the use of our affiliates or sub-contractors. The license is also global as I Met You Once has global reach on the Internet.

The licence is non-exclusive, which means you can license your materials to anyone else as well as I Met You Once.

The licence does not grant the right for I Met You Once to sell your materials, nor distribute them outside the I Met You Once service.

The licence terminates when you delete the materials in question or upon deregistration.

By uploading, submitting or authoring materials on this site you are asserting that you have the rights to license these materials. You are also asserting that the material does not violate or infringe the intellectual property or proprietary rights of others.
